Leah Marie and Luna Marie moved to Asheville in the course of the pandemic’s first winter season. Luna was 7 years old at the time, and morose. She moped all around the dwelling, longing for all her missing social conversation. Luna appeared so sad that Leah imagined she might need to have antidepressants.

But as vaccines rolled out, the two ventured back into the planet and Luna acquired her groove back again. Now at 9 a long time outdated, Luna — a 60-pound (or so) goldendoodle — is occupied as ever. She frequently goes to work with Leah at a boutique downtown, and she volunteers as a treatment dog: at a memory treatment center and, more a short while ago, at the Asheville airport.

“She appears like a bomb sniffing pet dog,” Leah stated with a snicker. “She continually has her nose down,” scouring the ground for scraps that rushed vacationers have left behind. But the two for canines and for human beings, the added benefits of treatment canines prolong over and above a crumb here and there.
